I bought this for my daughter that is going into 2nd grade as a summer review. About 3/4 of the book was good toward the end it got to hard and she had not been taught some of the things in 1st grade. It's relatively cheap so it wasn't a bad purchase.

As much as I understand the need for repetitiveness, this book could use a bit more variation to keep a child's interest, but the layout is great, the instructions are clear, and I love that the pages can be ripped out. For the price, totally worth it! Overall my kid likes it and is learning from it!

Wonderful book with colorful pages, great price and great practice for adding and subtracting

Bought for our 5 year old going into first grade to keep up with her reading during summer. Great lessons and are hard enough to be challenging for her but not too hard that it is frustrating for her.

Ordered this to do some work with my six year old. On the second page, first page dealing with subtraction, there was an equation where the answer was a negative number. Seems that would be more appropriate for later down the road and definitely with some explanation.

I don’t think they should be learning negatives at this point! 4 pages in total like the images I am posting. None of the answers are right at the back of the book for these subtraction pages. Very confusing to my son, had him move to another book. Will use it for addition, can’t go wrong there! Will not go with this company again.

I bought this for my daughter who is a first grader. I love it. It challenges her, it gives her the correct instructions and she can work on her own when I am not around. I usually give her 2 pages of homework a day. I really like specially because children have no homework any more.

If you want to really help your child get ahead in classstart them with this Math book. It does a really great job of doing a flexible process of working on simple along with difficultissues in a good rhythm of repetition.

The book is illustrated in vivid water color. The inside of the whale's belly is a brilliant, strawberry pink. In addition, the scene with the paint splashes is reminiscent of paintings by Jackson Pollock. Many of the characters in this book are based on real people who lived in the community of Deer Isle, Maine, where McCloskey wrote many of his books.
