About the Author
Drake Eastburn is a registered psychotherapist in the state of Colorado, and a Board Certified Hypnotherapist and Certified Instructor through the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH). He is a member of the National Federation of Hypnotists, OPEIU LOCAL #104 and a member of the Colorado Association of Psychotherapists (CAP) of which he has served on the board. Drake is the Director of Eastburn Hypnotherapy Center, and Co-Instructor for Eastburn Institute of Hypnosis, which he founded with his wife, Lynsi. Drake is a regular presenter at the National Guild of Hypnotists annual convention and Summer Institute in Marlborough, MA, and at various other conventions and conclaves including the Mid-America Hypnotists Convention in the Chicago area. He is the creator of a highly specialized smoking cessation program which he has taught internationally, along with companion classes for a number of his books. Drake is one of the most prolific writers of contemporary hypnotism. He is the author of The Power of the Past, a book chronicling his decades of experience with hypnotic regression therapy; a unique script book called Power Patter; No Time to Waist, a weight loss book/CD set; What Is Hypnosis?, a text book used in hypnotherapy trainings, The Power of Suggestion, insight into the hows and whys of hypnotism; and the soon-to-be-released Therapeutic Hypnotist. He has also authored numerous advanced hypnotism trainings. About the Author

Dr. Benjamin Bahr is a quantum gravity researcher at the University of Hamburg, Germany. He and his research group work on a unification of Einstein's theory of general relativity with the principles of quantum physics. Before that, he did his PhD at the Max-Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam, and was a research fellow at the University of Cambridge, UK. When he is not trying to calculate what goes on inside a black hole, or what happened at the Big Bang, he likes to explain physics to laypeople – by giving public talks, or writing popular science books.

Dr. Boris Lemmer is an experimental elementary particle physicist, working at the University of Göttingen and on the ATLAS Experiment at CERN. Before doing his PhD in Göttingen, he studied physics and mathematics in Gießen. He does not only love science, but also explaining it to laymen, either in books, in talks or on stage. In 2011, he won the German Science Slam championship.

About the Author

Birgit Beumers is Reader in Russian at the University of Bristol. She completed her D.Phil at St Antony’s College, Oxford and specialises on contemporary Russian culture, especially cinema and theatre. Her publications include Burnt by the Sun (2000), Nikita Mikhalkov (2005), PopCulture: Russia! (2005) and, as editor, Russia on Reels: The Russian Idea in Post-Soviet Cinema (1999) and 24 Frames: Russia and the Soviet Union (2007). She is editor of the online journal KinoKultura and of the journal Studies in Russian and Soviet Cinema.

Stephen Hutchings has a Chair in Russian Studies at the University of Manchester, having previously been Professor of Cultural Studies at the University of Surrey, and Associate Professor of Russian at the University of Rochester, New York. He has published three monographs, two edited volumes, and numerous articles on aspects of Russian literature, film and media.

Natalia Rulyova is a Lecturer in Russian at the Centre for Russian and East European Studies, University of Birmingham since 2006. She completed her PhD on Joseph Brodsky at the University of Cambridge. Subsequently, she was a lecturer and research fellow at the University of Surrey, where she worked on the project ‘Post-Soviet Television Culture’ headed by Stephen Hutchings. She has authored and edited a number of articles on Russian poetry in translation, film and media, and is currently co-writing a monograph on post-Soviet television culture.

Would love to see an updated index with more common symptoms/ailments. Warts & shingles would be good to add to the index

I think this is a good book to keep in your collection if you are interested in homeopathy. This particular book has the usual information on what to take for colds or toothaches and that sort of thing that you typically find in these type of books but also has more obscure and exotic things ranging from gunshot wounds to epidemics. It also has sections with recommended remedies for ailments common in certain occupations and hobbies. There is also a fairly in depth section on pregnancy and childbirth as well as organ remedies pertaining to problems with various organs. I showed this book to a friend who has been using homeopathy for decades and had never seen some of the things mentioned in this book. In fact I will probably buy another copy for my friend. Definitely a good book to have around the house.

I like this book very much - tried it out on my Kindle Touch and gave it a good skim before reluctantly returning it. It has a table of contents, but the VITAL sections "Ailments A to Z" and "Remedy Descriptions" have no subheadings at all! This means you have to know the names of the remedies (or the exact name used for the ailment) in order to search - or you have to flip through. Which makes it a good book for flipping through and learning more about homeopathy, but not so good for a quick reference in the Kindle format. There is an index - you have to go to "end" and then flip back a few pages to find it. This gives you page numbers to "go to" but they are not touch accessible. If the author updates this book with a better table of contents for quick reference, I will absolutely consider buying it again for the Kindle.Things I particularly liked in this book were the sections on Pregnancy and Birth; First Aid Remedies for Specific Occupations & Activities (there is some humor here); Economizing (makes sense); and Remedies for Your Home Kit. All very useful chapters. I am adding it to my maybe list for a paperback copy - my space is limited so would have preferred a Kindle copy with a better table of contents!

Although this provided some information re: Homeopathy and how to incorporate it into your life, it was not inclusive or detailed enough for me.

Alan Schmukler has written a most comprehensive, enlightening, and invaluable book that has aided me in too many ways to ever list. I have effectively used and recommended remedies for myself, my family, my friends, and even new acquaintances, all thanks to this cornucopia of wisdom and insight from one of homeopathy's Masters. Whether you are just beginning to explore the fascinating world of homeopathy, or a long time student interested in this Master's interpretations, you will be so inspired and so greatly educated by Alan Schmukler's Handbook!

This is such a well written book with lots of great information. Not only does Alan Schmukler give information for common illness, but he also goes into what to do in case there is and epidemic. As he mentions, these are strange times with diseases resisting antibiotics, terrorist attacks and so forth. I feel better prepared with this book and purchasing the remedies needed to have on hand in case something major happens and hospitals are too full or if I can't even get to a hospital... I'll know how to take care of me and my family from the simplest cold all the way to Anthrax. This is a must have book!
